Back in June I wrote a post about my experience photographing in Chiang Mai's Myung Mai Market. In that post I said that when if comes to markets, I'm like a fat kid and cake - I can't stay away. Well true to form, I returned to Chiang Mai recently and pretty much headed straight back to Myung Mai (well, OK maybe I stopped for a snack on the way).
The only difference this time is that I had a 'walkee' with me who took some smokin' pics. Her shot of a vendor silhouetted through an umbrella goes to show that a simple composition and great light equals a strong, memorable image. Made me work overtime just to keep up. Still not sure if I made the cut or not.

A Night at the Opera
We spent the last couple of evenings in Chiang Mai attending a Chinese opera performance for the birthday celebration at the Pung Tao Gong temple in Gat Luang. I'm sorting through hundreds of images and a pile of from the two days. More to come..

Morning Light
To me there's nothing better than morning light. Maybe it's the smug feeling of having drug myself out of bed or maybe it's the possiblities that the day could bring all unfolding in front of me. For this series I'm going with the former. A little background, about 3am, sleeping soundly in our guesthouse in Fang, we were jolted awake by a group of - OK I'll say it - absolute jerks coming back from a night of apparently heavy drinking (one proceeded to loudly 'drive the bus' for 20 minutes or so after they got back)..doors got slammed, cell phones got answered, yelling, you name it. Sometime after 4:30 we manage to to doze off again only to woken by the 6 am alarm I had set. Still, we pushed ahead and I'm glad we did.
